Online Applications for Admission Pro Hac Vice Now Open

As of September 3, 2025, the Office of Bar Admissions has begun accepting applications for admission pro hac vice through the online application portal ("Application Portal"). Beginning October 1, 2025, the Office of Bar Admissions will no longer accept paper applications for admission pro hac vice.

Importantly, Rule 404 of the South Carolina Appellate Court Rules was recently amended. Among other changes, these amendments alter the process for obtaining and providing a tribunal with the Supreme Court Clerk of Court's certification that an application for admission pro hac vice has been received and any required fee has been paid. Under the amended Rule, the Clerk will now supply the applicant with the certification through the Application Portal. The South Carolina lawyer who is associated as attorney of record shall then file with the tribunal the certification and a copy of the completed application along with the motion for admission pro hac vice.
